The Undertones’ self-titled debut is quite simply one of the greatest records to come out of the British punk scene in the late 1970s. Certainly the greatest to come out of Ireland. Every song sounds fresh and relevant these 32 years later, still evoking the passion and earnestness that the Undertones captured so brilliantly.
We are proud to make this reissue available, complete with songs later added in the October ’79 re-release of the record: “Get Over You” and the incredibly famous “Teenage Kicks.” “Teenage Kicks” is also well known for being underground music champion and Radio 1 disc jockey John Peel’s favorite song of all time. So much so he used the first two lines as his epitaph: “teenage dreams, so hard to beat."
This special edition was remastered for Drastic Plastic Records by Masterdisc for audio clarity. It will be pressed in a limited hand-numbered edition: 500 180-gram copies. It comes in a resealable poly-vinyl outer sleeve.
